До 22 березня у Литві триває Міжнародний кінофестиваль Kino Pavasaris (Вільнюс), який уже понад три десятиліття є головною кінематографічною подією країни. Заснований у 1995 році як невеликий весняний показ, фестиваль виріс у масштабний міжнародний форум, що щороку приваблює десятки тисяч кіноманів і професіоналів кіноіндустрії з усього світу. Ще одна ключова секція, «Harsh but Poetic World Cinema Premieres», збирає найкращі роботи з Sundance, Канн, Берліна та інших світових майданчиків, представляючи режисерів із Європи, Азії, Південної Америки та Середземномор’я. Vilnius Hosts the “Spring of Cinema” in the Heart of Europe
Until 22 March, Lithuania is celebrating the Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris, the country’s premier cinematic event for over three decades. Founded in 1995 as a modest spring showcase, the festival has grown into a major international forum, attracting tens of thousands of cinephiles and industry professionals from around the world each year. This year’s programme features more than 100 films, many of which have already earned accolades at prestigious festivals such as Sundance and the Gothenburg Film Festival. What began as an initiative by local film enthusiasts and cultural figures in Vilnius to promote author-driven cinema has evolved into the largest film forum in the Baltics. Kino Pavasaris traditionally offers: international competitions for feature films, retrospectives and curated thematic selections, sections dedicated to short films, documentaries, and experimental cinema, as well as special events, including “secret” screenings in unconventional venues and masterclasses with acclaimed directors. Highlights of the 2026 Programme. Central to this year’s festival is “How to Divorce During the War” (dir. Andrius Blaževičius). Winner of the World Cinema Dramatic Competition Directing Award at Sundance 2026, the film follows Maria and Vytas, a couple navigating divorce on the eve of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Their personal breakup intertwines with geopolitical upheaval and the influx of refugees into Vilnius, creating a poignant and timely drama. Another key section, “Harsh but Poetic World Cinema Premieres”, showcases standout works from Sundance, Cannes, Berlin, and other international festivals, presenting directors from Europe, Asia, South America, and the Mediterranean. Beyond screenings, the festival fosters a cultural bridge between East and West, bringing together filmmakers, critics, and industry professionals to share ideas and dialogue, reinforcing Kino Pavasaris as a vital platform for contemporary global cinema.
