Національний музей народної архітектури та побуту України запрошує киян і гостей столиці на “Свято українського хліба” — подію, що поєднує прадавні хліборобські ритуали з родинним теплом і сучасним мистецтвом. Цьогорічне свято покликане не лише відтворити обряди жнив, а й занурити відвідувачів у повсякденне життя українського села — показати, як народжується хліб, у праці рук, любові до землі й повазі до спадку предків. “Це свято — про найголовніше: землю, зерно, терпіння і домашнє тепло. Ми прагнемо, щоб кожен гість відчув: хліб — це не просто їжа, це цінність, яка об’єднує покоління,” — зазначають організатори. Гості заходу зможуть особисто пройти шлях хлібороба — від першого снопа до ароматного свіжого хліба на столі. У програмі: реконструкції обрядів “зажинок” та “обжинок”, жнива, молотіння, перемел зерна на ручних жорнах, випікання хліба у справжній печі та дегустація щойно спеченого хліба.Також у програмі — лекції про українські хліборобські звичаї: від гербів пекарських цехів до забутих борошняних страв, від жниварок на полотнах до реальної праці кріпачок. Кульмінацією свята став концерт KOZAK SYSTEM — музиканти, які вже стали голосом нової української сили. Їхня музика — це поєднання свободи, драйву й глибокої ідентичності. Їхні пісні лунають на фронті, в авто і в серцях — і саме цим виступом завершився, наповнений сенсом, хлібом і єдністю.
Ukrainian Bread Festival: A Living Tradition Comes to Kyiv
The National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine invites Kyiv residents and visitors to join the Ukrainian Bread Festival — a vibrant celebration where ancient farming rituals meet family warmth and living folk art. This year’s event aims not only to revive the traditional harvest rites, but also to immerse guests in the rhythm of rural life — to show how bread is born of love for the land, the labour of human hands, and deep respect for ancestral heritage. “This celebration is about what truly matters: the soil, the grain, the patience and the warmth of home. We want every visitor not just to witness it, but to feel it — bread is not routine, it’s a value that unites generations,” say the organisers. Guests will have the chance to follow the entire journey of a breadmaker — from the first sheaf of wheat to a freshly baked loaf on the table. The programme features re-enactments of harvest rituals such as zazhynky (the first reaping) and obzhynky (the end of the harvest), traditional threshing, grain milling on hand querns, baking bread in a real wood-fired oven, and of course, tasting warm, fragrant bread straight from the fire. Visitors can also attend insightful lectures on Ukrainian agrarian culture — from medieval bakers’ guilds with decorated breads on their crests, to forgotten flour-based dishes; from women harvesters in old paintings to the realities of serf women who harvested a hectare in days with only a sickle, the main tool of the trade until the 20th century. Pre-registration is required for the lecture. The highlight of the festival was a powerful performance by KOZAK SYSTEM, a band that has become a voice of modern Ukrainian strength. Their music is a force — blending freedom, defiance and cultural pride. Their songs are heard at the frontlines, on highways and in the hearts of Ukrainians. With their explosive energy and authenticity, they brought the day to a close — a day filled with bread, meaning and unity.
