На 79-й церемонії вручення нагород Британської академії кіно і телевізійних мистецтв — BAFTA — головний приз за найкращий фільм здобула стрічка «One Battle After Another» («Одна битва за іншою»). Загалом картина отримала шість відзнак, ставши тріумфатором вечора. Фільм режисера Paul Thomas Anderson, що розповідає про протистояння групи революціонерів із державною системою, також відзначили нагородами за режисуру, адаптований сценарій, операторську роботу та монтаж. Премію за найкращу чоловічу роль другого плану за цю стрічку отримав Sean Penn. По три нагороди вибороли вампірський епос «Sinners» («Грішники») та готична історія жахів «Frankenstein» («Франкенштайн»). Найкращим британським фільмом визнано драму «Hamnet», засновану на шекспірівських мотивах.
Виконавиця головної ролі у «Hamnet» Jessie Buckley стала лауреаткою премії за найкращу жіночу роль, втіливши образ дружини William Shakespeare. Натомість нагороду за найкращу чоловічу роль отримав Robert Aramayo за участь у незалежній британській драмі «I Swear» («Клянуся»). Серед номінантів цього року були також Leonardo DiCaprio і Timothée Chalamet. Премії BAFTA поряд із відзнаками Producers Guild of America, Directors Guild of America та Golden Globe Awards традиційно вважають важливим орієнтиром напередодні вручення «Оскара», церемонія якого відбудеться 15 березня у Los Angeles.

BAFTA 2026: “One Battle After Another” Triumphs with Six Awards, “Hamnet” Named Best British Film
At the 79th British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards, the top prize for Best Film went to One Battle After Another. The film received a total of six awards, becoming the evening’s major winner. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film — which tells the story of a group of revolutionaries confronting the state system — was also honored for Best Director, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, and Editing. Sean Penn won the award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film. The vampire epic Sinners and the gothic horror story Frankenstein each took home three awards. The drama Hamnet, inspired by Shakespearean motifs, was named Best British Film. Jessie Buckley, who played the lead role in Hamnet, won the award for Best Actress for her portrayal of William Shakespeare’s wife. Meanwhile, Robert Aramayo received the Best Actor award for his role in the independent British drama I Swear. This year’s nominees also included Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet. The BAFTA Awards, alongside the honors presented by the Producers Guild of America, the Directors Guild of America, and the Golden Globe Awards, are traditionally regarded as key indicators ahead of the Academy Awards, which will take place on March 15 in Los Angeles.
BAFTA was founded in 1947 at the initiative of leading figures in British cinema, including David Lean, Carol Reed, Alexander Korda, and Laurence Olivier. The organization was created to support and develop the national film industry after the Second World War and later merged with the television community, forming the academy in its modern format.
